Caran d'Ache has joined forces with Alfredo Häberli, the Swiss Argentinian designer internationally renowned for his projects and collaborations with prestigious brands in the field of international design, to create a limited edition of the emblematic 2mm Fixpencil. It is a mechanical pencil that he has collected since he was a child, the inseparable companion of his creations and the extension of his creativity.
In two-tone, plum or ochre, the artist reinterprets this instrument which is ideal for preliminary sketches and spontaneous ideas – the essential companion of architects, engineers, designers, illustrators … In addition to a graphite lead, the designer's innovations include giving the Fixpencil a combination of four water-soluble color leads specially selected for an assortment that is both aesthetic and technical. At the artist's request, certain finishing touches are taken from past models of the Fixpencil. The button on the mechanical pencil, for example, which also serves as a lead sharpener, is made from the aluminum of its early days with a grooved texture already used in the past, ensuring perfect handling comfort.
Reflecting the value of sustainability dear to Caran d'Ache, the box turns into a case, which can then be reused. All these elements mean that the Fixpencil is in line with the current trends established by young designers who attach equal importance to the design and the aesthetics of a product.
Caran d'Ache, founded in 1924 by Arnold Schweitzer, was a product of Switzerland's long history of watchmaking and jewelery manufacture. Today, it is the epitome of superior quality and recognized expertise.
Each product is created by hand in the Geneva workshops and brings together the traditional expertise of master craftsmen and the performance of computer-assisted machine tools.
